David Crabtree

2001 Speed Yellow Boxster

Reason I bought it:

I’ve wanted a Porsche since I was 12. This one jumped into my lap while getting my Acura serviced in January, 2006. I couldn’t put her down, so I took her home and left the Acura behind.

About the Car:

The car is a base model Boxster. It came to me with 35k miles on the odometer. I’ve doubled that in three years. Besides the obvious fact that it handles like a Porsche, I like the yellow seat belts. Since bringing her home, I’ve installed a short-shift kit and really like the feel it provides. Recently, I added a second set of wheels – black. Some of my Porsche friends insist the car isn’t stock – I don’t know why. J I most enjoy driving the car on twisty roads and on the autocross courses. The best is driving on a cool day, or a warm night, with the top down. The car has been very good to me. I’ve changed her fluids, filters, a serpentine belt, and put on lots of new rubber. J

About me and my family:

I’m a hard working dad with a teenage daughter who is just learning to drive. She says she isn’t ready for the Porsche – we’ll see how long that lasts. I took the car to autocross school the first year I had her. What a treat that was! My daughter will go to autocross school, too – even if just for the training it provides generally in car handling.
